This is one of sketches for the Gnomon DVD. when I was working on this project. I couldn’t decide what I like to draw. and I realized that It might be good to draw without any thinking or subject. so I can show my thinking process or foot step of my brain on white blank paper. My parent live in Seoul Korea. Last year, I went back home to see my parent. and I saw my father’s tears for the first time. I always look up to him and I always remember he is strong man. He is typical Asian father who never show his tears and his emotion. and I felt really sad because I can see my father is getting old and his mind also. Here is drawing about my father the day. He is scarecrow and Looks tired by all the hard work and feeling of Loneliness.I call him once of week these day. and tell him that I love him for the first time. and He paused for a moment, then said “me too”. It was really tough say How much I love him but I hope it’s getting better…^^
작년 한국을 잠시 휴가차 방문했었을때 눈물을 보이시는 아버지를 보고, 많이 놀랬습니다. 항상 강한 모습의 아버지는 사라지고, 허수아비가 되어버린듯한 아버지의 모습이 떠올랐습니다. 집에 와서 스케치를 하고. 지금에서야 올리네요. 누군가 저에게 이런말을 했습니다, 효도는 돈으로 하는게 아니라고… 몇달전, 아버지와 통화를 하고 끊기전에 “아버지 사랑해요!” 라는 말을 평생 처음으로 아버지에게 했습니다. 잠시 정적이 흘렀고 조그마하게 “그래 나도” 쑥스러워 하는 소리가 들렸습니다. ^^ 지금도 사랑한다는 말이 쉽지 나오지 않지만, 자주 하려고 합니다. “아버지 사랑해요!”.
